Hi David. I strongly agree with your argument and broader discussion of TikTok’s negative effects on American youth. Though I am biased as a fellow non-user of TikTok, I truly

cannot see this being a bad thing. I can only hope that, come Election Day, people will not punish Joe Biden because they are avid users and don’t understand the greater significance of a ban.

Hey Dec,

Thanks for your two cents. At the end of the day, I think you have good reason for hope. As I believe others have reported, the Tik-Tok ban (if a ban even happened, vs. a forced resale to an American company) would not even be enforced until after the election. Given everything else that is going on, I would imagine that people will largely forget about this issue until that point.

The other part of it is what the courts do. Would they strike down a national ban, like they did late last year with Montana's state ban? Either way, this is going to be entangled in the legal system for a while. And I wonder whether the courts would let people continue to use the app until all of the legal challenges are over.
