On November 8, 2022, Democratic Senator Patty Murray of Washington State was up in 538 polling averages by a mere 4 points. In what was a solidly Democratic state.
It was not good. Not good at all. Trafalgar Group polls had Murray with a mere 2 point lead. 2 more polls gave similar news. A third said the race was tied. Sen. Murray, it seemed, was in a fight for her political survival. She sure acted like she was. She went on the defensive, closed up her war chest to more vulnerable Democrats in other places, and even got assistance from the national Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and affiliated Super PACs.
