RIDE and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day
Some Reflections on Recent RIDE and PPSD News
Disclaimer: For the full story on the Mt. Pleasant High School controversy—and why you should care—see my other Substack articles entitled “Why You Should Care About Mt. Pleasant High School” and “McGowan Off the Mark on Mt. Pleasant.”
The RIDE and PPSD scandals just keep piling up, don’t they? If you haven’t read this article (https://www.golocalprov.com/news/exclusive-fixed-bid-convicted-felon-secret-3.2m-payment-infante-green-direc), I highly encourage you to.
But, if you’re really in a rush, the headline definitely gets the point across: “EXCLUSIVE: Fixed Bid, Convicted Felon, Secret $3.2 Million Payment — Infante-Green Directs $72M Contract” (emphasis mine).
Makes me wonder if they plan on recruiting some more felons to help plan the future of Mt. Pleasant High School. All kidding aside, the District’s refusal to properly respond to GoLocalProv’s Access to Public Records Act (APRA) requests is déjà vu all over again for me. Like I’ve said in previous articles, I filed a public records request for any and all documents relating to Mt. Pleasant High School school facilities policy from 2016 to the present. The District’s response to my request compelled me to file a complaint with the R.I. Attorney General’s office, and they are currently investigating.
If anyone wishes to contact me at davidsalzillojr@gmail.com, I am happy to send over all the relevant documents. I am confident these documents will demonstrate both the reasonableness of my request, and the PSD’s inexcusable failure to properly respond to it.
I invite the PSD’s comments on all of this, but I won’t hold my breath.
