How's That Working Out For Ya, Donald?
Talk about an unconventional crowdfunding pitch.
Yesterday morning, the Trump Super PAC sent out a fundraising email that started with, “Friend, I want to try and get to Heaven.”
Given the rumors of his physical AND MENTAL decline, I sometimes wonder whether he’s actually attempting to raise the money to buy the fabled “Stairway to Heaven.”
But honestly, that’s beside the point.
As Romans 2:6-7 says, “[God] will award to every man what his acts have deserved; eternal life to those who have striven for glory, and honour, and immortality, by perseverance in doing good” (Knox Bible).
I don’t think St. Paul was talking about people who drastically cut Medicaid and Medicare, and who destroy social services meant to uplift the poor and those living paycheck-to-paycheck.
I don’t think St. Paul was talking about people who oversee scorched-earth deportation campaigns, send the National Guard against American cities, and launch vicious campaigns of vengeance against their political enemies.
Nor do I think St. Paul was talking about people who supported a 60-day aid blockade in Gaza, and who literally rolled out the red carpet for one of the world’s worst war criminals.
“I want to try and get to heaven.” Donald, I don't think it’s working. You need to go back to the drawing board, dude.
